Knowledge Corridor

The Knowledge Corridor is a mixed residential and commercial area, which is focused on the Edge Lane corridor, the main eastern gateway into Liverpool city centre from the end of the M62 motorway. It has a strong retail and high-tech base, with many firms in the IT sector based at the well-established Wavertree Technology Park. High-profile local employers include Barclaycard, Sony Psygnosis and Gardner Systems.

Liverpool Innovation Park has been created on the former MTL bus depot site on Edge Lane. On completion, the scheme - which is particularly aimed at science and technology companies - will provide up to 21,645 sq m of new commercial floorspace and create 1,100 new jobs.

There are plans to redevelop the landmark former Littlewoods complex on Edge Lane. Award-winning developer Urban Splash has been selected to create a range of new residential and commercial space within the Art Deco buildings.

The first phase will focus on the west wing of the complex and deliver 276 apartments, a landscaped plaza and new parkland. Later work on the east wing will create a 100-bedroom hotel, offices, retail and leisure space.
