Liverpool is an internationally-important university city, home to the University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University and Liverpool Hope University, all offering new employers a ready pool of skilled graduates and postgraduates.
World-class research departments include pharmacology, infection and immunology, clinical laboratory science, cancer studies, computer science, chemistry, electrical engineering and electronics and mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing engineering. There is also a new University of Liverpool Management School plus a range of higher and further education colleges and acclaimed industry-based training initiatives such as the £4.8 million Partnership for Learning Centre in Speke. Liverpool alone has 16 Beacon schools while there are 120 secondary schools in all within 20 miles of the city, including 12 independents.
